This page explains how you can submit evidence to the Migration Advisory Committee.
Evidence submitted by stakeholders is an important element of the evidence base on which the committee is working. We therefore encourage stakeholders to contact us with evidence when it is believed that an occupation should be added to the shortage occupation list.
The committee will review the shortage occupation list on a regular basis.
In order to help us consider your evidence it should be organised in the following way:
1. Give details of your name, address, contact details and organisation details where applicable.
2. If you are submitting evidence in relation to whether jobs or occupations should be included on the shortage occupation list please specify occupation and job titles according to the SOC2000 classification (see Standard occupation classifications below).
3. Does the occupation or job title you are suggesting satisfy each of the our criteria in relation to 'skilled', 'shortage' and 'sensible' as outlined in our September report? Please provide supporting evidence.
We have produced a simple guide to submitting evidence to the MAC which can be accessed on this website.
For a list and description of occupations at the 1 to 4 digit level, see Standard Occupational Classification 2000: Volume 21 Structure and descriptions of unit groups on the website of the Office for National Statistics.
For a complete list of job titles see Standard Occupational Classification 2000: Volume 2 The coding index on the website of the Office for National Statistics.
