Call for proposals for the European Refugee Fund 2008-2010

This page gives details of the call for proposals for funding under the European Refugee Fund 2008-2010.

The call for tender for the European Refugee Fund 2008-2010 is now closed. The fund is mainly aimed at organisations involved in setting up projects that assist in the integration of refugees or people who have been granted humanitarian protection or discretionary leave.

The value of the fund available for external tender for 2008 is approximately £1million. It is targeted at projects in the following areas:

  • refugee community organisation development - specifically projects which promote 'meaningful contact and constructive dialogue between refugees and the receiving society, including actions which promote the involvement of key partners such as the general public, local authorities, voluntary groups ... and broader ... society' in accordance with Article 3 (f) of the European Parliament and Council Decision No 573/2007/EC.

Employment-related projects must specifically demonstrate how they will add value to the new Refugee Integration and Employment Service, for example by providing sector-specific employment or employment training opportunities.

Project proposals from local, regional or national organisations will be considered. The maximum grant that will be available from the fund is restricted to £250,000 a year for each project.

Funding can be provided on a multi-annual basis for up to three years.

Successful proposals must also be able to demonstrate that:

  • the organisation has the relevant experience and dedicated resources to implement projects and manage the fund;
  • matched funding of 50% is secured before European Refugee Fund funding will be released; and
  • the proposed project is cost-effective and provides value for money.
